Rally to Rescue 2010 Our therapy dog chapter had a booth at the annual Pet Smart Rally to Rescue day held on August 14. Many dogs and handlers were on hand to explain and show all the great things our therapy dog teams do in and around the Sioux Empire. Mary Jo also gave a formal presentation in the big tent to further let interested people of the mission of our group and answer questions. Thanks to all that participated, both human and canine.
TDI continuing Education TDI Associates had the opportunity for continuing education with anin-service for our Tail Waggin' Tutors (TWT) Program. Barbara Wigg, Reading Resource Specialist with Rosa Parks School volunteered to provide direction and assistance in appropriate reading interventions with our elementary school readers AND a demonstration with 3rd grader, Tamara. Twelve of our Associates were in the Rosa Parks Library learning more about facilitating our canine TWTs. Thanks to all who were able to come and to those who are TWTs in our many schools and to Barb for sharing her expertise.
________________________________________________________________ BARK FOR LIFE TDI Associates were front and center helping the American Cancer Society with their fund raising event BARK for LIFE on Sat, May 15th at Spencer Park. We had our banner and table set up to educate participants on the joys of volunteering with their precious dogs. Pups Frisco, Katie, Raina, Simone, Jade, Dizney, Sarah, Boo, Jack, Rip and Paris attracted much attention. It was a beautiful afternoon and I think the camaraderie was felt as we reunited together in a large group for the first time since the snows melted!! Thanks to all who participated.

_______________________________________________________________ High School Youth Internship TDI Chapter 200 hosted Kaysi Brown, West Central High School, as an intern second semester of the 2009-2010 school year. This was in the West Central High School “School-to-Career Youth Internship Program” and coordinated by Kristy Jackson, Career Counselor, East Dakota Educational Cooperative. Kaysi is interested in animal rescue and care. So many of our TDIs volunteered to mentor Kaysi with visits to Greenleaf Assisted Living, Avera Prince of Peace, Rosa Parks TWT Program, Sanford Health, Avera Rehab, Children’s Care Hospital and Schools and Dougherty Hospice. Thanks to everyone for another Chapter 200 first!
