Rainbow Bridge

This page is in honor of the Sioux Empire TDI therapy dogs that have crossed the rainbow bridge. We are sorry for loss of five of our precious therapy dogs and hope our members read the following tributes and keep them in our hearts.
AT RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm Spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who have been maimed are made whole again
Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:
They each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They play all day with each other.
But the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent.
His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group,
Flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
You cling together in joyous reunion,
Never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face;
Your hands again caress the beloved head
And you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet so long gone from your life
But never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

REGENCY PATRIOT VON KUBISTRAUM
“PATRIOT”
July 8, 1997-June 26, 2007
When we brought our fuzzy, long-coated
German Shepherd puppy home,
we knew he was destined to be a
Therapy Dog – sweet,
undisturbed by distractions, calm with a
love of all people, especially children.
Patriot was a TDI Therapy Dog for 4 years
sharing his love at the VA Hospital and
Children’s Care Hospital and School.
He learned to salute our veterans by raising
his right paw in respect. He achieved
150 TDI visits (TDIAOV – Active
Outstanding Volunteer), was a nominee for the national AKC
ACE Award in Therapy work, was Volunteer of the Year at CCH&S and
had his CD obedience title. But most of all, he was just sweet
Patriot – loved, trained and pampered by Dick and Mary Jo.
We miss you dear Patriot and will meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Darby was a happy little dog. He did anything I ever asked of him with a smile. The perfect gentleman with a very big heart. Thank you Darby for all you shared and taught me. I'll always remember our last few moments together and your soft kisses.
Run free my little friend till we meet again.

as a therapy dog. Lad was not only
beautiful but athletic and clever.
Lad earned titles in obedience, rally obedience, agility and canine
freestyle. In addition he has his
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Therapy Dog International (TDI) titles.
Laddie and his
partner Mari Beth performed canine freestyle (dancing to music) at various
venues since Lad was about 1 year old.
The duo performed locally for the Siouxland Renaissance Festival,
Festival of Cultures, Sioux Empire Fair and the Sioux Falls Canaries. They also performed for national
audiences appearing on Animal Planet’s Pet Star and the Jimmy Kimmel Live
Show.
Lad & Mari Beth
were selected as members of the Eukanuba Dog Food ELITE Team in 2002 and made
appearances and performances nationwide.
Over the course of
Lad’s life, Lad & Mari Beth volunteered their time in a therapy dog
capacity for several organizations including Sanford Health, Children’s Home
Society and various local schools and churches. Lad was also a guest “teacher” in Mari Beth’s volunteer work
with Junior Achievement. Lad was
also active in visiting with the Sioux Empire TDI group.
Lad personified
loyalty, trust and obedience and was an early ambassador for the acceptance of
therapy dogs in healthcare here in the Sioux Empire. Lad was and still is a shining star in God’s creation and he
touched many lives with his drive to work and his light-hearted spirit!
